This is not the first time that Mitchell Starc came to cheer for Alyssa Healy and Australia women’s team. He was also present during the ODI World Cup 2022 final when Australia dethroned England to win their seventh title.

Mitchell Starc joined wife Alyssa Healy to celebrate Australia women’s cricket team’s victory at the Commonwealth Games.

Australia won the gold medal after defeating India in the final by nine runs on Sunday (August 7). With the victory, Australia completed a treble, having earlier won the T20 World Cup 2020 and the 50-over World Cup 2022.

This is not the first time that Starc came to cheer for Healy and the women’s team. The fast bowler was also present during the ODI World Cup 2022 final when Australia dethroned England to win their seventh title.

Although Healy didn’t fire in the gold medal match, Australia managed to post 161 for the loss of eight wickets thanks to Beth Mooney’s 41-ball 61. Mooney was briefly supported by her captain Meg Lanning (36 off 26 balls) before Ash Gardner played a crucial cameo of 25 off 15 balls. In reply, Australia removed India openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma in quick succession.

Incoming batters Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues not only recovered India but took the side to a position where it seemed India would cause an upset. However, Megan Schutt had other plans as she castled Rodrigues for 33. Gadner put Australia on top, taking the wickets of Pooja Vastrakar (1) and Harmanpreet Kaur (65 off 43) in successive balls. In no time, India lost five wickets for just 31 runs and fell short by nine runs.
