Read Time:1 Minute, 11 Second

No one on the ground was injured. Details of the pilot’s identity and crash were not announced immediately. Trona is about 236 miles (380 kilometers) southeast of the AirStation in the Central Valley.

Lemoore is home to the Pacific Commander Strike Fighter Wing and the Joint Strike Fighter Wing Commander, and according to its website, hosts 16 operational Strike Fighter Squadrons.

In 2019, the Navy’s Super Hornet crashed in Death Valley National Park during regular training missions, killing pilots and slightly injuring seven park visitors who were struck by debris. Officials said they were gathered at a scenic oversight where aviation enthusiasts were watching military pilots speeding at low speeds through a rift called the Star Wars Canyon.

Last October, the Navy Super Hornet at China Lake Navy Air Base also crashed, and in 2020, another Lemoore Hornet crashed during a training mission. The pilot was sent off safely. One is in the remote south of Death Valley National Park near the Nevada border, and the other is in the Mojave Desert.
