France’s Macron Beats Le Pen To Win Second Term

Read Time:36 Second

Emmanuel Macron is the first French president in 20 years to win reelection. France has played a leading role in international efforts to punish Russia with sanctions. With nearly all votes counted, Macron led 58% to 42% for Le Pen. Le Pen was beaten 66% to 34% by Macron in 2017 and her father got less than 20%.

French President Emmanuel Macron is currently 24 hours away from a critical election test. He is running against far right candidate Marine Le Pen. Le Pen is a fan of President Trump and President Putin while also openly hostile to NATO. Though most polls say the French think Macron will win on Sunday, the gap between him and Le Pen is closing.
