Bill Cosby Sexually Assaulted Teenager At Playboy Mansion, Jury Finds

Bill Cosby has been found liable for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl at the Playboy Mansion in 1975.

Judy Huth, who is now 64, was awarded damages of $500,000 for emotional distress by a civil jury in Santa Monica, California.

Ms Huth testified that the comedian invited her and a 17-year-old friend to the mansion when he was 37.

She said they met in a park where Cosby was filming a movie and he gave them alcohol before taking them to the mansion.

Ms Huth said he then told them that “if any of the Playboy bunnies asked their age, they should say they were 19.”

She said he then took her to a bedroom and molested her.

Cosby, who is now 84, became known as “America’s Dad” due to his role as Cliff Huxtable on “The Cosby Show,” which ran from 1984 to 1992.

Dozens of women, including aspiring actresses and models, later made allegations against him.

In 2018 he was jailed for between three and 10 years for indecently assaulting a female basketball coach at his home in Philadelphia in 2004.

He was the first celebrity convicted and sentenced for a sex crime after the dawn of the MeToo movement.

Last year, that conviction was thrown out and he was freed from prison.

The latest case was the first civil ruling against the entertainer.

Ms Huth said her long legal battle had been “torture”.

She added: “It has been so many years, so many tears. This, to me, is such a big victory.”

Jurors found that Cosby intentionally caused harmful sexual contact with Ms Huth. They found he reasonably believed she was under 18, and that his conduct was driven by unnatural or abnormal sexual interest in a minor.

Cosby did not testify or appear in court.

He continues to deny the allegations and his lawyers said he would appeal.

Andrew Wyatt, his spokesman, said: “What happened today wasn’t a victory [for Ms Huth], because they didn’t get the punitive damages.”

During the case Ms Huth’s lawyer, Nathan Goldberg, told the jury of nine women and three men that his client “deserves to have Mr Cosby held accountable for what he did.”

The case was never criminally prosecuted as the statute of limitations had passed by the time Ms Huth made an allegation to police.

However, California law allows adults who say they were sexually abused as minors to bring civil cases years later.
