High blood pressure is a harbinger of serious cardiovascular diseases: heart attack and stroke. That is why it is important for hypertensive patients to prescribe the right treatment and adjust nutrition as early as possible. Proper diet is the key to good health and the best prevention of complications. 

The main assistants in the fight against high blood pressure are flavonoids – these are natural antioxidants that reduce capillary fragility and normalize the process of supplying the brain with oxygen. In large quantities, these plant compounds are found in the following products:

  • green tea;
  • Cherry;
  • pear;
  • an Apple;
  • peanut;
  • blueberry;
  • black chocolate.

Studies have shown that eating enough flavonoids leads to a decrease in blood pressure. Therefore, hypertensive patients simply need to include these products in their daily diet.

With increased pressure, you will have to limit the amount of salt in the diet – no more than a teaspoon per day. It is also desirable to refuse animal fats. Butter, sour cream, pork, beef, as well as carbonated drinks and caffeine are prohibited. It is also important to exclude spicy dishes, pickles, canned food, any pastries and sweets. Seasonings are best kept to a minimum.

For a natural lowering of blood pressure, foods rich in potassium and magnesium should be included in the diet: 

  • rice;
  • fruits (oranges, tangerines);
  • potato;
  • oatmeal and wheat groats;
  • dried fruits (dried apricots, raisins);
  • squid;
  • fish (hake, cod);
  • milk, yogurt;
  • seaweed;
  • legumes (beans, peas, lentils). 

Vitamins will also be good helpers in the fight against hypertension: A (liver, egg yolk, parsley), B (yeast, peas, cabbage), C (rose hips, citrus fruits, black currants). Products can be baked, boiled, steamed, but not fried. It is important to adhere to such a diet on an ongoing basis, otherwise it will not be possible to stabilize the pressure. 

Highlighting the top products for normalizing pressure in hypertension, it is worth first of all to name the following:

  1. Pumpkin seeds are a source of zinc, a lack of the mineral can lead to a heart attack. 20 grams per day is the required norm;
  2. Cottage cheese. This fermented milk product is rich in calcium and magnesium, which have a beneficial effect on the functioning of the heart and blood vessels. It is advisable to use it daily;
  3. Salmon contains omega-3 fatty acids that help lower blood pressure. It is recommended to eat 150 grams three times a week;
  4. Oats are a good source of selenium. This trace element is necessary for both hypertensive patients and diabetics.
  5. Red bell pepper is rich in vitamin C. It has been proven that hypertension is much less likely to develop in those who regularly consume it in the required amount. It is enough to eat two medium-sized peppers a day.
